How to create a subdomain in cPanel

A subdomain lets you create a separate area of your website, such as blog.yourdomain.co.uk or staging.yourdomain.co.uk.

Steps

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Open Domains.
  3. Click Create A New Domain or Subdomains, depending on your cPanel version.
  4. Enter the subdomain name.
  5. Check the document root folder.
  6. Save the change.

Document root

The document root is the folder where files for the subdomain live. For example, public_html/staging.

SSL

After creating a subdomain, allow AutoSSL time to issue a certificate if SSL is enabled on your hosting account.
