How to point your domain to your hosting account

To make your website load from your hosting account, your domain must point to the correct server.

Option 1: Change nameservers

This is usually the easiest option. Log in to your domain registrar and replace the current nameservers with the nameservers supplied in your hosting welcome email.

Option 2: Update DNS records

If you want to keep DNS managed elsewhere, update your A record to point to the hosting server IP address. You may also need to update mail records if email is hosted with us.

DNS propagation

DNS changes are not always instant. They often update within a few hours but can take up to 24-48 hours globally.

Before changing DNS

  • Check where your email is hosted.
  • Make a note of existing DNS records.
  • Avoid deleting records you do not understand.
