Why DNS changes can take time to show everywhere.

How DNS propagation works

What propagation means

DNS propagation is the time it takes for updated DNS information to be seen by networks around the world.

Typical timing

Many changes appear within a few hours, but some can take up to 24-48 hours depending on caching and the record type.

During propagation

Some visitors may see the old service while others see the new one. This is normal during a DNS change.
